I graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India in 1993 and subsequently completed Master Degree in Medicine (MD) from Safdarjang Hospital, Delhi, India in 1997 and undertook my specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology in the UK from 2003 to 2008. I was awarded the Certificate of completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in July 2008 by the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board and have been working as a Consultant since July 2008.I work in the department of Diabetes and Endocrinology with a team of doctors, diabetes specialist nurses, specialist dietitians and specialist podiatrists, running weekly Diabetes Clinics and Endocrine Clinics. I also work in the department of Acute Medicine and I am responsible for assessing and providing senior input into the management of acutely ill medical patients.I am a Clinical and Educational Supervisor in Medicine for junior doctors. I am also involved in the teaching of Medical Undergraduates students from Cambridge University and I am a recognised University of Cambridge Senior Clinical Tutor.I am a recognized tutor on the Postgraduate Diploma and MSc courses in Endocrinology conducted by the University of South Wales, UK. I am a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Edinburgh and also an MRCP- PACES examiner.I have been awarded the Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy which is awarded to professionals who can demonstrate they meet the criteria of Descriptor 1 of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) ) for teaching and supporting learning in higher education. The Associate Fellowship was awarded in recognition for my role as a teacher and supporter of learning within the higher education context.I regularly delivers lectures to doctors, nurses and GP colleagues in the hospital and outside on a range of issues related to diabetes and endocrinology.
