Nucleation and growth of epitaxial graphene formed by physical vapor deposition. Mechanical exfoliation of other layered materials with novel optoelectronic applications such as on-chip non-classical light sources. I also tutored undergrads and graduate students mechanical exfoliation and monolayer characterization (using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Raman spectroscopy) of three different materials.

High-Tc superconducting device research - Fabrication of SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) arrays on chip for highly sensitive magnetic field detection at ultra-low temperatures. During fabrication, a new technique to fabricate the masks for ion-implantation is reported. Based on low-pressured plasma we etch on an angle the masking photoresist with high aspect ratios. Electron transport experiments with YBCO at Low Temperatures are also to be reported (TBA).

Improved velocity and performace of an Scanning Tunneling Microscope controlling unit. The system was based on a Digital Signal Processor and was used for fundamental studies of molecular diffusion of CO on Copper (111). Hosted by the departments of Electrical Engineeering and Chemistry at the University of California, Riverside under advise of Professor Ludwing Bartels.
