It's all about gaining strength from a thousand cuts.I always envisioned myself working in a multinational engineering firm, resolving challenging issues and technical hurdles. To this end, I enrolled in an engineering school with the hopes of testing waters in the industry. It seemed like an appropriate idea at the time until I began freelance writing for local, independent clients. That's when it clicked for me—it came so naturally to me. With the first word I wrote in my academic research paper, I knew I had found my calling. I wrote academic dissertations, undergraduate, post-graduate, and post-doctorate papers. I was also involved with intensive editing and proofreading. The firms and clients could not be more happier with the smooth workflow all-around. I carried this passion into an ad agency—a starkly different role than my previous placement. I was involved in copywriting for internal and external marketing campaigns. I offered taglines for brands and worked on TVC concepts. Other than that, I was involved in proofreading artworks and marketing collaterals. This job placement provided me with a huge learning curve. I smoothly transitioned into the digital marketing realm. I joined a content farm as an SEO copywriter. This was a very demanding role since I had to consult with senior managers and clients regarding content optimization and keyword placement. Other than that, I had to draft landing pages, rewrite substandard content, develop content outlines and plan content calendars. My next role entailed a diversified job description. I was involved in editing, copyediting, and proofreading lengthy fictional and non-fictional works for UK and US clients. As an avid reader, this job role brought my prior learning and escapades into fantasyland to good use. I was able to use storytelling concepts to create fictional worlds. It felt so rewarding in its own way.
