During my time on the Tech Talent Accelerator program, I acquired and developed key skills and knowledge in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. In addition to that I also learnt about source control using GitHub and Git, complemented with a further understanding of Linux. Aside from the technical skills, I also improved on many of my soft skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving. The final week of the course had us creating projects that really tested our understanding of the content we had learnt. One of which was a personal portfolio website which acts as my own online resume, and the other was a To-Do app which allowed the user to organise their tasks in a creative and easy to use way.

As a member of the support staff for children with SEN, I needed to be able to communicate and get through to children of varying dispositions. I found myself able to tailor explanations of key concepts and ideas in many different ways depending on who I was working with.The work also greatly developed my resilience as it could oftentimes be very difficult when trying to work with children who displayed severe emotional and psychological distress. I found myself taking my work home with me and coming up with ways I can really make the most positive impact on their academic and social lives in a way they needed it the most, which in turn heightened and proved my levels of commitment to the work that I’m responsible for.

During my time working across a number of venues for The Royal Household, I developed many key skills such as communication and attention to detail. I had many duties that required a certain level of personal responsibility as well as the ability to effectively work as part of a team. Regularly speaking to members of the public, I found myself becoming more and more skilled at delivering clear and informative messages in a warm and engaging way. It was also necessary that I had the ability to easily pick up and understand how new software works as many of my responsibilities involved the use of different programs and their key functions.
