Responsible for managing entire legal portfolio of the Bank in Central region (Punjab), including but not limited to contentious and non-contentious matters.

This being a Pan-Pakistan Position, I am responsible for looking after all legal issues of all branches across Pakistan.Provide assistance and advice in all court cases, complaints, legal notices and other litigation, civil as well as criminal, by or against the bank and suggest further course.Tender appearance in Courts personally or through Court Coordinators in order to safeguard the interest of the bank. Supervising/Managing a Team of about 20 people, who directly report to me.Managing a portfolio of almost 3000 court cases across Pakistan and maintainance of MIS Data, Reporting etc.Appointment/Engagement of lawyer and processing approvals for payment of legal expenses, including professional fees, court fees, auction expenses etc.Managing the provision of first class, responsive legal advice to all lines of business in Pakistan in respect of litigation, disputes and regulatory issues relating to businesses’ transactions, policies and procedures. Safeguard interest of the bank before Courts of law including Banking Courts, Civil Courts, High Courts, Banking Offences Courts etc., Regulator, Ombudsman/BMP, FIA, NAB, Police etc. Dealing and resolving issues relating to lease of branches and defending the bank in litigations before Rent Controller or other ancillary matters.Generally provide all sorts of legal support to Retail Banking Group and 1200 Branches of MCB Bank Limited across Pakistan.Additionally I am also responsible for rendering legal opinions on issues pertaining to title, mortgage etc. Of properties, vetting of charge documents, vetting of NOCs, Vetting of Letter of Hypothecation, JPP Agreements, Mortgage Deeds etc. Account opening and operation, Deceased Accounts, Succession Certificates, Release of Documents and Redemption of mortgaged properties, Schemes of Amalgamation, Partnership Deeds, MOA & AOA, Joint Ventures, Trust Deeds, Charters etc. and all other issues warranting legal input.

To pursue all Legal Issues of MCB under direct supervision of Country Head Legal.Attend meetings and represent Legal Affairs Group internally in all such meetings.Advise on legal aspects involved in any policy matter, internally as well as policies made by SBP.Regulatory Issues.Dealing with other day to day complex legal issues of all kinds. Render legal opinion and guidance sought by SAM & other branches and to attend matters of legal significance.Provide assistance to the branches/offices for filing of suits and follow up of all legal cases.Render Legal Opinion on Perfection of Charge and other charge related transactions and documentations.Vetting of Charge Documents including Joint Pari Passu Agreements, Letters of Hypothecation, Letters of Guarantee, Undertakings, Agreement to Create Registered Mortgage, Memorandum of Deposit of Title Deeds etc.Legal opinion on Property Documents including Mortgage opinions, Title verification etc.Hypothecation, Pledge, Mortgage Documentation, Bank Guarantees etc. vetting.Legal Opinion on deceased accounts and account opening and dealing with matters in dispute of any kind with respect to account operation instructions.Interpret court orders, judgments etc. and ensure meticulous compliance of the same.Draft and vet all kinds of legal documents.Impart legal opinion on documents such as Bank Guarantees, Agreements etc.Attend all legal matters and provide assistance to various groups.Vetting of Agreement of Corporate/Commercial/SME Banking/Business promotion & Other Groups. and assist in legal issues regarding product developments and policy making etc.Liaison with Lawyers to obtain current status and follow up of legal cases as and when required.Generally manage and look after all legal issues.

Render legal opinion and guidance sought by SAM & other branches and to attend matters of legal significance.Provide assistance to the branches/offices for filing of suits and follow up of all legal cases.Defend the bank in all suits filed against the bank.Draft and vet legal documents.Impart legal opinion on documents.Drafting/Vetting of plaints of all kinds of suits/criminal applications.Attend & represent the bank before different offices and courts in significant cases.Prepare & submit all types of statement in respect of suits, decree cases & execution filed by or against the bank for submission to concerned quarters & maintain their MIS.Liaison with the advocate to obtain current status and follow up of legal cases vigorously.Evaluate performance & monitor progress of legal counsels on regular basis and entrustment of cases to Lawyers.Maintain MIS data about legal cases filed by & against the bank.Expediting the bank’s pending cases with the courts & other offices.Legal Opinions on Deceased Accounts, Property Documents, New Account Openings, Account Operations Instructions etc. and all other legal issues.
