Umery graduated with law degree from University of Indonesia in 2017 specializing in public administrative law. She joined AHP shortly afterwards as an associate in Competition Practice Group. During her time at AHP, she has involved in various competition matters, primarily on antitrust litigation and merger notification. One of the high-profile transactions she has been involved is the KPPU merger notification for the acquisition of 70% equity interest in Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) by Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, for a purchase price of SAR 259.125 billion (US$ 69.1 billion). This acquisition is one of the biggest transactions ever in the global petrochemicals industry.Prior to joining AHP, she had served internships in the Embassy of Republic Indonesia in Sofia, Bulgaria (accredited to Albania and North Macedonia) and another prominent law firm in Jakarta. While she was in college, she was actively serving as the General Secretary of The Scientific Research Institute Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. She also has a long list of achievements to her name, including winning the national constitutional drafting competition at Universitas Padjajaran (2014) and awarded as the best paper presenter in the 4th International Conference on Humanity and Social Sciences in Macau (2017).
