Umesh is working as DGM-ESG at Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. In Shyam Metalics he is responsible for establishment of measurements system and inventorisation of GHG emissions.Prior to that he has worked for about 9.5 years as Sustainability professional in Tata Steel. During this period he has worked on various projects. He was deputy leader for Natural Capital Valuation Project in Tata Steel. He was Project Manager of Stakeholder Engagement and materiality project . He was member of team doing Biodiversity assessment of raw material locations with the help of IUCN. He was convenor of a cross function team working on Climate Change Risk Assessment Project as per TCFD framework. He was also convenor of a cross functional team working on the Subernrekha River Basin Study. In TCFD project he was responsible for finalisation of scope of work and facilitating scenario planning workshop. He was also responsible for data collection exercise for TCFD project. In River Basin Study he was responsible for scope finalisation to project implementation.Prior to Corporate sustainablity he was involved in capital projects as designer, planner and Project Manager. He has spent a major part of his career in capital projects.
