ÜNAL ÇEVİKÖZ is a retired diplomat and is currently an elected Member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (Turkish Parliament) and the Deputy Chairperson of the Republican People's Party (main opposition) in Turkey. He worked as the President of Ankara Policy Center, a think-tank focusing on Turkey's foreign policy analysis in its neighbourhood. He joined the Turkish foreign service in 1978. After his assignments in Moscow, Bregenz, Sofia, he was detached from the Turkish Foreign Ministry to join the NATO International Secretariat in Brussels. He launched NATO's Information Office activities in Moscow in 1994 and then prepared the NATO-Russia Founding Act. Going back to the Foreign Service in 1997, he served as Turkish Ambassador in Baku (2001-2004), Baghdad (2004-2006) and London (2010-2014). He was the Deputy Undersecretary for Political Affairs of The Turkish Foreign Ministry between 2007-2010. He also prepared the Turkish-Armenian normalization protocols signed in Zürich in 2009. He has been The President of the 28th Assembly of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for the term 2013-2015. He also worked as a member of Board of Trustees of Kadir Has University.He is a member of the Board of British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey (BCCT).He is a member of Association of International Relations Council. He is a member of Global Relations Forum.
