Reduced the company’s General Ledger (GL) processing time from 6 hours to 15 minutes using programming and database tuning techniques. Created new printer model in UNIX to accommodate printing at 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20 cpi on Epson compatible printers, which in turn facilitated the printing of cheques via the computer system.Set up new Local Area Network (LAN) systems. This includes Windows NT servers and a UNIX server integrated into a TCP/IP network, with 50+ client workstations running Windows 95 and Windows NT workstation. Increased database system uptime from 78% to 95%, saving the company over US$140,000.00 per month.Implemented a database disaster recovery plan (DRP) that recovers the database up to the last successful transaction. Virtually eliminating data loss in case of system failure.Improved company wide communications by implementing electronic mail service using Microsoft Mail for PC Networks 3.5.Doubled the productivity of administrative and technical staff with the introduction of PCs, Windows 95, Windows NT Workstation and Microsoft Office 95 at the desktop.
