Working as part of a specialist 3rd line support team providing project management and development of Linux/Windows based server and systems environments for over 3,000 users worldwide.• Providing support to local users and technical teams to 16 sites around the world including China, Brunei, Brazil, Libya, Australasia and the Middle East• The role involves understanding complex and often challenging political and cultural compliance issues for regions which for various reasons cannot connect to the global IT infrastructure• Installing and developing complete data centres, servers, hardware and software • Generating proposals for on-going IT investment to meet the needs of regional teams• Providing subject matter expertise and the highest levels of operational technical support Example projects where I have lead• Muscat, Oman: Installed new Linux/Windows data centre in joint venture with business partner. Setup and configured all hardware on-site in 9 month project for over 60 users. Project involved complex contractual negotiations in the licencing of Shell operating systems, applications and compliance guidelines for use by business partner• Chengdu, China: Project managed new Linux/Windows data centre using HP Blade remotely working with local 3rd party installation partner. Server required complex configuration to comply with Chinese and US import/export regulations. Project completed on-time, on-budget• Bangalore, India: Having initially set-up this data centre in a challenging green field site in 2007, have carried out transformational change projects to improve this Linux / Windows based data centre including totally refreshed hardware in 2011 and expansion from 200 to 400 users in 2014• Brunei, Borneo: Installed new data centre based on HP Blade in 2007 with major refreshes thereafter in role. Also carried out training to local teams demanding adaptability and sensitivity to a very different working culture

Worked as part of a small team in this role to deploy an HP EVA server in a new global Linux environment serving over 1600 users at 5 sites across the world from South America to Europe. • The project involved taking all existing NFS Sun servers and integrating into 1 server together with the migration of 30Tb of data from EMC storage• Installed replacement NIS authentication system to greatly improve security of data • Managed installation of RedHat satellite Server and installed and configured multiple hardware and software applications • Co-authored documentation to ensure thorough operational handover

Managing the setup and deployment of a global Linux operating system with 40,000 end users.
