The rich and varied banking experiences of 38 years coupled with the leadership qualities and urge to sharing the banking knowledge acquired over a period of time, did not allow me to sit idle after retirement from the Bank. In March, 2009, I joined NAFED (An apex body of the Agricultural Marketing Co-operatives under Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India) as Consultant in the rank of Executive Director and handled their various issues relating to banking with special focus on recovery of their bad debts.I drafted OTS Policy for NAFED within the ambit of RBI guidelines on the subject, which is considered as a Bible for amicable settlement of their Bad debts.

I pursued ‘Post Graduation in Economics’ with distinction from Punjab University in 1970 with the single-minded aim of pursuing a challenging career in banking and as luck would have it, after quick starting my professional career as ‘Lecturer in Economics’ at Khalsa College, Amritsar, India, I had the privilege to join Punjab & Sind Bank as Probationary Officer in January, 1971. After working at various important positions in the Bank viz. Sub-Manager (Foreign Exchange), Branch Manager, Regional Manager, Zonal Manager at major Metro / State Capital cities all over India and as Head of various Departments at the Corporate Office of the Bank from time to time in the capacity of AGM & DGM, finally retired as General Manager ( Law & Recovery, Inspection & Audit and Insurance & Marketing) in February, 2009 which includes one year of extension period given in recognition of my excellent performance shown in bringing down the bad debts of the Bank drastically. I got the appreciation for having been instrumental in the turn around of the Bank.
