Reviewed logistics, material movements, inventory, transportation (including motor and international ocean freight), implemented tracking systems, conducted time studies in order to streamline worldwide operations, increase productivity and reduce SADA and COGS. Brought in after a Health/Safety/Environmental audit had revealed major shortcomings, I implemented a remedial program (including rapid evacuation of 150,000 square foot warehouse) which resulted in "zero repeat findings" on revisit, and the auditors' recognition for timeliness, scope and efficiency of remediation.

Purchasing, Plant Management, HSE Compliance, Plant SecurityPurchasing: Directed purchasing for the Electronics Division including: major capital items, vacuum deposition systems, clean room supplies, electronic components, chemicals, test equipment, MRO support items, computers and services. corporate advanced computerized system (with PARS, MRP II, electronic requisitions and EDI capabilities). This system allowed direct linkage to accounts payable (eliminating the need for that function locally) and was eventually adopted nationwide. Acquired equipment at optimal market levels, selecting vendors, negotiating contracts, and training staff. Coordinated overseas procurement with Kodak's international divisions for joint ventures in Japan; Participated in corporate worldwide transition to ERP and implementation of the SAP version 3. Enabled Kodak to utilize leading edge capability to ensure most efficient flow of supplies.Plant Management: Facility financial forecasting and budgeting. Negotiated and awarded service contracts. Supervised experienced maintenance crew of ten people, to assure HSE Compliance: Designed and implemented HSE compliance procedures. Supervised facility-wide employee training. Primary interface with regulators at local, county, state and federal level agencies: OSHA, EPA, FDA (CGMP, GLP). Designed and implemented a customized "cradle to grave" hazardous chemical tracking system at savings of approximately $80,000. Wrote operating manual and designed forms and procedures. Eabled Kodak to remain in compliance with external regulatory agencies and internal standards and procedures. This package was designed to be readily implemented corporate-wide and/or to be sold to other organizations for profit.Plant Security: Supervised physical and intellectual property security for high tech laboratory. PURCHASING MANAGER (1975-1986)Directed the supply needs of this world-class 5,000 employee biotech and high tech research organization, managing an annual budget of $20 million and a staff of twelve people which included: procurement and administration of major capital acquisitions of instruments, equipment, supplies and services to meet biomedical research scientists’ needs. Wrote and implemented purchasing policies and procedures. Supervised selection of suppliers. Directed negotiations and award of major purchases. Extensive travel to coordinate local and international suppliers.

Designed, built and modified research scientific instrument prototypes and medical devices. Familiar with operation of lathes, drills, mills and other equipment used in the assembly of prototypes in the Advanced Instruments Engineering Department.
