Teaching Artist
Current• Develop and teach fine arts curriculum to museum guests of all ages (from a few days old to senior citizens) to connect the public with the artwork on view in the museum's collection• Develop and teach fine arts curriculum for museum programs such Art Encounters, Sunday Studio, and Winter, Spring and Summer Art Explorers • Create activities and prepare supplies for Fall, Winter and Spring festivals on the museum campus, serving over 4,000 guests• Provide support to contracted artists to help them prepare their workshops at our programs and festivals • Teach art classes in the community as part of our Mobile Studio program. Partners include the Houston Public Library system, Mark Twain Elementary, Ed White Elementary and the Baker Ripley Gulfton - Sharpstown campus, among others.• Provide teacher training to Houston area art teachers in annual MFAH summer intensive program• Teach courses such as Public Art, Fiber Art, Mixed Media, Drawing and Sculpture to students at the Glassell School of Art• Prepare artwork for student exhibitions
