Ursula Burton is a director. A founder of FIVE SISTERS PRODUCTIONS, she has produced feature films including JUST FRIENDS, MANNA FROM HEAVEN, TEMPS, and KINGS, QUEENS & IN-BETWEENS. She has made numerous commercials, PSAs, and short films including the Faces of Ford campaign, “Mamas for Obama” spots, the campaign for the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, the HALF THE HISTORY series, and OLD GUY. She regularly directs and co-produces audio dramas. She wrote, directed, and produced the award-winning comedy, THE HAPPIEST DAY OF HIS LIFE, which won a Viewer's Choice Award on MTV's LOGO Channel, and qualified for the Academy Awards. The film is used as a teaching tool in high schools and universities to show how media can change perceptions of gender. She just completed the films WE TREAT THEM THE SAME, and EXPIRATION DATE, both of which she wrote, produced, and directed. Projects in development include THE SKY’S THE LIMIT: THE STORY OF THE MERCURY 13 (a feature she co-wrote inspired by the 13 women tested to be astronauts in 1961, which was a Nicholl Quarterfinalist). Also an actor, her TV work includes recurring roles on THE DEAD GIRL’S DETECTIVE AGENCY, GREY’S ANATOMY, HART OF DIXIE, RAKE, THE OFFICE and the hit BBC sitcom MY FAMILY, as well as appearing on SILICON VALLEY, JANE THE VIRGIN, DR. KEN, CASTLE, BLACKISH, SCANDAL, KC UNDERCOVER, 2 BROKE GIRLS, THE MIDDLE, CRIMINAL MINDS, WILFRED, and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. Film roles include SGT. BILKO, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, MAFIA, and THE DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD. She can often be heard in audio drama productions including the BBC Radio 4’s "The Hireling," DOCTOR WHO, DARK SHADOWS, and STARGATE. In addition, the specialty card decks she created, "52 Questions Before Marriage or Moving In," "52 Questions Before Baby," and “52 Questions After 50” are being distributed by The Gottman Institute. Burton graduated from Yale University with honors, earning degrees in both Theater Studies and English. She sits on the YaleWomen Council, is a board member of both YaleWomen LA and the Yale Club of LA. She was selected for the Alliance of Women Directors CAP Industry Support Program and for the AWD TV Shadowing Program.
