Ursula Stockley is a Owner at Wax and Willow at Wax & Willow. Colleagues describe them as "As part of the established Health & Social Care Academy set up in collaboration between Brighton MET, Northbrook College and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Ursula has been key in the development and fully embedding of work placements for Access to Nursing students. She has been instrumental in the student/hospital coordination onto their Mental Health wards across 2 locations. Her tasks included: • Setting up bi-annual Student Mental Health Talk with Learning Mentors, Nurse Educators coming in to talk about the wards and Mental Health, along with Ursula talking about the placement opportunity. • Arranging all DBS for students • Working with Nursing mentor rotas and students to marry up the best matches • Setting up applications for the students to input working diaries, targets and shifts • Wrapping the placement up and doing assessments for case studies for both the college and NHS • Weekly reports on Placements and feedback for Steering Meeting with NHS Academy Board • Expanded placements to include Community Nursing and Learning Disability and arranging for more staff to be trained as Mentors. This was in preparation for the college merger so we were able to roll it out to other colleges within the group. In addition to this, Ursula has been involved in: • setting up and collating copy for Social Media Campaigns to drive more students to the Access Courses • Compiled and designed a placement handbook that is now being further developed with Ward information form NHS and a Placement Passport • Supplying design and copy for promotional material for the course. Ursula has delivered excellent customer service to students accessing the placements, and to staff within both colleges and the NHS Trust. Her hard work and determination has been exceptional and she is a valued member of the team."
