About Usama Dingankar
Hi, I am Usama. I will be designing products for your company in the near future!I graduated with my Master's in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University, focusing on New Product Development and Manufacturing System Design. I have experience leading and being a part of research and development (R&D) projects in designing & developing manufacturing systems from concept design to production & testing. One of my recent experiences was the work we did at the Advanced Metal Forming Lab at NCSU. We worked on a project that dealt with developing a novel design algorithm that reduced material wastage during a closed forging process by a margin of 60%. Before this stint, my research work during my Master's thesis, in which my team and I developed a novel machining system for the end-stage polishing of polymer lenses. The developed system improved the surface finish of the polished lenses by a margin of 95%. This was another such project wherein I was involved in a core research and development (R&D) role in a product development and manufacturing design environment. I am proficient in leveraging top-notch design (CAD) and simulation (FEA) skills in my projects using tools like Solidworks, ProE Creo, ANSYS, Abaqus FEA, and MSC Marc. In addition, I am also well versed in using statistical data analysis tools like Minitab and SAS JMP to set up experimental designs and analyze and validate the data stemming from the experiments. I have obtained my Solidworks Associate certification in Mechanical Design. I am also well-versed in continuous improvement and process engineering. In addition, I have received my Lean Six Sigma Green belt certification from NCSU - Wilson School of Textiles.I am currently looking for full-time Mechanical Design Engineering opportunities in the industry.
