Rumsey Construction moves dirt and brings public utilities like water, sewer, electrical infrastructure as well as roads into the raw land. After a Rumsey project, the area is ready for highrises, warehouses, multifamily housing or other business to build on top. (Size ~$45M)What I did:* Took a shoebox of random receipts, bank and credit card statements, and an external web app for sending invoices and I rebuilt 1 year and 5 months of financials in Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise Contractors Edition. Leadership used this work to finish acquiring the entity and roll out support services like billing, collections, insurance coverage, and make additional asset and equity contributions.* I used Apache Hop, Python, and SaaSAnt to pull customer invoice data from Invoice Simple and push it into Quickbooks Desktop, automatically creating customers, service items, and invoices.* I used VBA to create Excel macros that plowed over a large dataset of Unpaid AP bills by project, filtering and reformatting it to show clearly which vendors needed to be paid according to project completion. Reduced errors and gave their AP staff a day back per week to create waivers (proving subcontractor and vendor payments), which in turn unlock AR in the construction world.* I used XLookups and other formula-based approaches in Excel to speed up the production of a labor report. The labor report showed last week's labor spend per project vs the estimated spend. It gave management a view of where spending activity is across a portfolio of construction projects.* I made collection calls on projects underway and for retainage due for completed projects to help identify any gaps preventing cash collection. I was enhancing an Excel-based tool that compared invoices due to date to AP bills received which helped management anticipate how much cash was expected to come in and go out on a weekly basis.
