Tasked to help NOV Suppliers improve Quality and On Time Delivery for the NOV Supply Chain to help meet or exceed our Goals. APICS classes for certification.Consult and assist shops regarding Machining, manufacturing and production of NOV product.Provide technical support in regards to Management, Shop Structure, Process Flow, Cells, Tracking Metrics, Scheduling, Machining and Manufacturing. Evaluate, Audit and recommend manufacturing plants and machine shops for NOV, and at times recommend removal of current shops from the NOV AVL.

• Components and Systems – Subsea Control systems (MUX) for BOP Stacks, Large and Small bore Ram BOPs, pistons, bodies, doors, rams, SBOP for subsea and land based rigs, fabricated platforms and structures for BOP Stacks.• Developed integrated manufacturing systems & procedures.• Lockwood and Tanner were both under review for closure and then transfer of assets.• Re-assigned to Lockwood and then Tanner in a “Turnaround effort” for NOV.• Efficiencies for this time period were increased from the lower 20-30 percentile range when first assigned and raised to apx 81% (Fabrication) and over 110% (Machining) • Coordinated and drove efforts of Core Competencies initiative including the realignment of plant equipment, facilities & products to better serve our customers while improving cost structure on products and increasing productivity. • Created cells, cellular structure, developed cellular work flow and developed different flow paths for types of work/products within the plants. • Reviewed products to provide better in-sourcing to better utilize equipment and resources.• Made Make vs Buy decisions on various products to achieve a better fit of in house products• Monitored NOV manufacturing methods and set routings to assure requirements were met. • Worked to help develop the Configurable Stack Program for NOV working with Design Engineering and production Teams develop jigs and fixtures to create repeatable welding processes and interchangeable components, reducing “one offs” which had been the industry standard in regards to building Subsea Stacks.• Worked with weld engineers to modify angles of weld bevels to reduce manufacturing time. • Reviewed costing and standards, identified reasons for cost variances and reported.• Created and modified routings and boms, analyzed variances and rolled costs. • Worked on the Material Review Board for disposition of NCRs.• Worked within Oracle, Glovia, Teamcenter, Cognos and various other NOV systems software.

As Operations Manager, was responsible for manufacturing production, quality, cost and on time delivery of all components manufactured in house and at outside suppliers (working to support purchasing) needed for internal final assembly requirements.• Originally hired to reduce outsourcing 50% regarding machining - achieved in 3 months. • Results - Reduced outsourcing to less than 25% of previous levels during which time the demand for Machined Components increased by over 42%. • Evaluated all outside suppliers, oriented all shops to their Core Competencies.• Created an "insourcing program initiative" to help support other Teledyne business units.• Evaluated all machined components vendors, then advised purchasing on make vs buy.• Made decisions to support Core Competencies and which products would be manufactured in house and at each supplier to balance shop flow and help reduce unnecessary overtime. • 41% reduction of manufacturing time on the average for machined components with process & tooling optimizations.• Reduced the cost structure of Purchase parts averaging - over 35% savings. • Implemented Lean Manufacturing Methods & 5S +1• Created standardized tool sets and created work cells. • Established Core Competencies program for manufactured products in the machine shop. • Developed a "Stocking Plan" at suppliers, including raw material - reducing lead times.• Implemented a full PM program for equipment• Engineer to order environment with a “One Piece Flow” capability, low volume - high mix. • Worked with Engineering to develop more standardization on products.• Instituted a daily program for PM and 5S+1 and developed work cells.• Created Process Improvement Teams and a Process Improvement Engineering Department.• Developed shop flow paths to reduce production interruptions• Instituted a Machinist Training Program for Employees• Evaluated equipment, specified tooling and machines.

Created, developed & presented Swiss-Type and Conventional CNC Machinist Training programs for new hires.Lead process engineering and improvement efforts in regards to reducing setup & cycle times with tooling & program modifications on problematic jobs. Increased flow of product thru the shop. Last process improvement project was a Cummins engine fuel injector. (2) new Swiss-type machines were going to be ordered for a part to run 24/7, on three machines for a contract. Retooled & reprogrammed the existing machine & reduced the cycle time from 2:62 to 47 seconds, achieved better tool life, lower tooling costs & a higher quality, consistent product. Eliminated the need for the purchase for the 2 additional machines & gave us 2 months per year of free time to run other products on the existing unit and reduced tooling costs by over 32%, while improving on the Quality. Run was over 1.5 million pieces per year and for Dodge trucks.Really enjoyed working at American Micro, great people to work with and the automotive industry is very competitive. Created and taught a very successful "in house" training program for new hires which included classroom training, hands on training at the machines for setups including inspecting First Articles and provided with on the job training for machine operators to help develop the workforce for the company.Taught "hands on" Dimensional Metrology classes for QC inspectors and new hires.
