I woke up one morning feeling different about going to school. Maybe I was afraid of my usual math teacher hitting me with the drumstick every time I acted like a nuisance (in his words). I love my mom. She tried her best to convince me to keep pushing. She said, “You can't quit school now." You are still very young.I was in primary four. Maybe it’s a thing for people that try to think outside the box while questioning the norms of society. I had no choice but to obey my mom and continue the journey to get a certificate so my shoes can sound “Ko Ko Ka” when I am walking. Yes, my mom sang that song to me that day. It’s written in Yoruba. Of course, I got to school late and, as always, my math teacher was ready to hit me with drumsticks again. I think this is one of the reasons I wasn’t really good at math. I walked red-eyed into the class, and met my English teacher while she was making announcements to the class about the program she needed a few of my classmates to participate in for the end of the year party. She said, “Oh, Ola, right on time. I was just telling the class about the program some of you will participate in for the end of the year party, and I need you to be among the participants. The program is a demonstration of what we want to be in the future, titled “Standard Living,” She asked me what I would like to be in the future. My dad wanted me to be an engineer, but thinking about what had just happened with my math teacher, I said, "I want to be a lawyer." I wanted to be a lawyer so I could charge Master T to court for always hitting me with a drumstick.I did a great acting job with my costume. Circumstances I can’t talk about much in this story killed that dream. After secondary school, I had to work to make a living. I learnt to trade and invest in Crypto from the internet and other close friends and also learnt digital marketing, designing graphics with Canva, Front-end web design, and also playing around with words on my phone notepad. I advanced to building my own blog with WordPress to share my experience with people and also, some of my friends said, “I talk a lot.” So I decided to start a podcast and have conversations about adulthood, life highs and lows, and other things I learnt from reading books and my observation of what’s happening in our society. I’ll love to connect with you, learn from you, and build amazing projects that will impact the world positively.
