    1. Acid Gas Recovery• Studied the Jamnagar Acid Gas Recovery process in detail with an Equation-Oriented Aspen flowsheet model. Gained tremendous insights on equation-oriented model development and finally suggested 21% improvement in high purity (>99.96 wt%) CO2 recovery with model-based study. Rigorously analyzed the effect of the improvement on refrigeration. The idea is accepted by the Technology team and detailed CAPEX estimation is completed for implementation. 2. PTA Reactor Modeling • Diligently studied p-Xylene oxidation process and developed the p-Xylene oxidation to Crude Terephthalic Acid integrated kinetic reactor model by incorporating the effects of catalysts, water, and oxygen. The model was validated rigorously with design HMB as well as plant data. The model can predict critical process parameters successfully.3. PEO Column design and optimization• Designed a new distillation column to recover pure EO and optimized the feed/product location to identify 7% saving in duties compared to the existing design with all product specifications matched successfully.4. MEG Column underperformance study• Conducted a model-based study to develop and validate MEG column with design and plant data. Used the model to quantify the inconsistency in column operation and provided critical actionable recommendations to plant.

Performed the following responsibilities:• Prepared the request for proposal (RFP) framework for 1-Butene product based on available open-source information that was conveyed to interested licensors.• Studied each technology submitted by licensors diligently and based on the RFP assessment tool, provided recommendations to management for selection of appropriate technology4. Development of Separation Scheme for LAO Product Process• Configured a new process scheme for separation of 1-Hexene product from product mixture for ethylene trimerization based on available heuristics and model-based approach. Compared multiple schemes based on energy consumption and separation efficiency to select the most suitable configuration.

Process Optimization for Pygas to Benzene Process • Configured a validated and integrated full-scale plant model in Aspen Plus based on assorted literature kinetics consisting of Hydrodealkylation and Hydrocracking reactions along with licensor data. Developed a databased regression model to explain heavy aromatics formation in absence of reliable kinetics. • Identified areas of benzene loss using these models via RCA approach and provided recommendations to minimize them, thus improving the benzene productivity. One recommendation was implemented in the plant that resulted in 7.5% productivity improvement and 6-10 MMUSD annual benefit. 2. Yield Optimization for EB to Styrene Process• Developed a detailed steady-state radial flow plant-scale reactor model in Aspen Custom Modeler (ACM) inclusive of flow physics and catalyst deactivation function from lab data and plant data enabling sensitivity study. Developed a model GUI in Aspen Simulation Workbook and delivered to plant faster user-friendly execution. • Configured and validated robust Aspen Plus plant model for complete Ethylbenzene to Styrene process with all recycles integrated within ±2% error margin. Completed rating of all heat exchangers in Aspen EDR for design case. • Optimized the reactor conditions and separation systems using rigorously validated the models and provided recommendations for raw material loss mitigation. The stakeholder accepted the recommendation.3. Energy Optimization for Cumene to Phenol Process• Performed steam optimization study and column stability analysis in Aspen Plus/KGTower for higher energy consuming distillation columns and identified optimum conditions using plant-validated Aspen models. • Provided operational and design recommendations that can reduce energy consumption by 23%. The plant licensor has accepted the suggestions and it was implemented in the plant.
