I worked on a computer-based analysis of sand dunes in Namib Sand Sea using GIS (Geographical Information System). The research was a mixture of understanding the dune morphology and its influencing factors and subsequent data analysis which was instrumental in the development of a new dune quantification algorithm.

Team Shunya is a team of 70 young and passionate engineering students from IIT Bombay who have a vision to build a real scale house which works solely on solar power generated by the solar panels installed on its roof. Utilizing the benefits of all the modern technology and making it totally energy efficient such that the house consumes minimum energy and doesn't require external inputs and also creating general awareness about the existing energy crisis is our prime focus. We want to construct a net zero energy building. The techniques of modular construction are also used in creating different sections of the house which would make it highly easy to assemble and disassemble the structure.The outcome and results of this project which is still in its research phase can lead to the opening of a new venture in the building industry. This house will be competing with 20 other houses constructed by students from universities worldwide like MIT and Stanford University in a worldwide competition, the Solar Decathlon, which is also known as the "Olympics of Solar Industry". The next competition of the Solar Decathlon will be held in 2017 in China in which Team Shunya has entered as a finalist. Show less
