  If you are a computer engineer, ask yourself a question: Do you really know what a computer is?Well, I surely do now after my time at Vicharak, starting in May 2022 as a Linux kernel intern. Before that, I played around with AOSP ROMs and Kernels, experimenting with various phones to figure out how they work.At first, I was just curious about what Vicharak was up to – you know, PCB stuff, IoT, FPGA – all that technical stuff. But by the time I left, I had a good understanding of how a computer is made from scratch.Now, let me share the details of what I got into:At Vicharak, I was the go-to person for the development of their SBCs. I worked on the bootloader, Linux kernel, and various software versions like Yocto, Buildroot, Debian, Ubuntu, and even a bit of AOSP.For the bootloader, I got hands-on by making RK3399-based Vaaman and RK3588-based Axon work with U-Boot – a popular tool for embedded devices. On the kernel side, I made sure that Vicharak's Vaaman and Axon boards had all the hardware support they needed.Creating software images? Absolutely! I made recipes for Yocto BSP, configured Buildroot 2021 for Vicharak Vaaman. I also made Debian Bullseye, Ubuntu Focal/Jammy, and cool Android 11/12.1 builds. And just for fun, I created images for Armbian, Manjaro, and RetroPie for testing.Oh, and I also worked on UEFI for Vicharak Axon, using Tianocore EDK2 and understanding UEFI specifications.Vicharak wasn’t just about tech – we had workshops on interesting topics like Git, Soldering, Basic Electronics, FPGAs, Blender, What is CPU?, and even "Design and Develop your own Computer." Monthly idea sessions were cool too – presenting new ideas and talking about their impact.A big thanks to Vicharak for this journey. The skills I picked up are like gold. Understanding how a computer really works and being able to fix it up is something I always wanted to do. Cheers! 🚀✨
