I graduated from MA Design Critical Practice at Goldsmiths, University of London, and received my BA (Hons) Industrial & Product Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design.I have extensive experience working as a Design Manager on various creative programmes including the renovation of a museum park cum resource centre dedicated to wood fossils, the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Hong Kong/ Shenzhen) and SDWorks (a unit which develops, produces and commercialises students projects from the HKPolyU School of Design), where I assisted young practitioners in launching their design ideas from concept to the real world, and promoting their work to international audience. Alongside working as a designer and project manager, I have also been practising as an artist and have established my personal label “UUendy Lau” specialised in speculative art and participatory creations. I am interested in stimulating discourses through creative objects, illustration and community projects on social subjects related to nature and human connections. My works have been exhibited in public shows and design workshops through collaborations with charity and commercial organisations such as M+ Museum, The Mills, Hong Kong Maritime Museum, Aesop, Absolut Vodka and New Balance. I have also received grants to take part in various overseas artist-residency project, including NRCG (Australia), PARADISE AIR (Japan), Guandu International Nature Art Festival (Taiwan) HK Brussels Designers Exchange Programme (Belgium). My works are sold at galleries and stores in Hong Kong, Singapore, Milan (IT), Taiwan, Beijing and Shanghai.
