About Uven Bunsee

Uven has worked in the public and private sectors for all his career, for over 25 years. After his articles of clerkship, he was General Legal Counsel for Department of Labour, where he oversaw the national legal affairs of the Department, including the legislative programme. Thereafter he served as of the head of the Legal desk at the National Treasury PPP Unit, later Acting Head of the PPP Unit. He also served as Head: Public Transport for Western Cape province. Later, he joined KPMG as an Associate Director, then Director: Infrastructure and PPP. Thereafter, he served as Senior PPP and Infrastructure Advisor, for Adam Smith International in Nigeria in the NIAF programme. He then set up his own consulting firm, MERCOMP Pty Ltd that consults on infrastructure and policy programmes, working on various programmes and projects in South Africa and across Africa. He has worked on the feasibility studies, procurement documentation and contracting for projects in over 20 countries. He also regularly leads teams of consultants to deliver project documents. He is a registered member of the Legal Practice Council (LPC) and admitted as an Advocate to the Pretoria High Court and also a participating member of the South African Institute of Civil Engineers(SAICE).
