My name is Utkarsh Kumaran, and I am a recent graduate from North Carolina State University with a dual degree in Biomedical Engineering and Economics as a Benjamin Franklin Scholar. I am a mission-driven engineer who strives to apply my interdisciplinary education to solve diverse and challenging problems.During my time at NC State, I conducted research in the Neuromuscular Control and Robotics Lab, where I gained experience working with powered exoskeletons, functional electrical stimulation, and ultrasound imaging. In the summer of 2022, I participated in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, where I designed an experimental setup for tracking and controlling an acoustically actuated, bubble-based micro-swimmer.In addition to my academic pursuits, I am deeply committed to volunteering and community service. For the past few years, I have been involved with the Helping Hand Project, a non-profit organization that provides free custom 3D printed recreational devices for children with limb differences. I have served in various leadership positions, including chapter president, and currently work for the central HHP non-profit organization.I am a hardworking and passionate team player, with a track record of successful leadership and recognition from my peers.
