I started my Software Engineer journey with coding Discord Bots when I was 14. I developed over 10 projects in which I used more and more advanced and new tech stacks. Techno Bot is another Discord Bot project that I built 2 years ago.I used a rather over-engineered stack for a Discord Bot, but I wanted to use all the knowledge I gained over the years. Here are the technologies I used:Backend:- NestJS- MongoDB- GraphQL with DataLoaderFrontend:- NextJS with SSR for SEO- React- Apollo ClientDevOps:- Kubernetes with KubeADM- ArgoCD for automatic deployments- Github Actions for CIDiscord Bot:- NestJS (Custom Written Library)- RabbitMQ for RPC between micro-services and load-balancer for distributing loads of events that are coming from Discord.- Utilizes 4 microservices that can be scaled independently: Cluster, Processor, Orchestrator, and Bucket.Micro Services:- Cluster services connect to Discord Gateway via WebSocket and filter the received events. Forward the required events to RabbitMQ, later then distributed evenly among Processor services.- Processor services receive events through RabbitMQ and process them, if required interact with DiscordAPI via Bucket services.- Bucket services control the Rate Limits and API Tokens so processor services can run statelessly.- Orchestrator service manages the other services, auto-scales them via Kubernetes if received events exceed the usual amount. And also manages the Discord API tokens and sends them to Bucket when required.
