Dr. Nathan Long, appointed as UWS' next permanent president on September 20, 2024, with his official role beginning on October 1st. Prior to his current appointment at University of Western States, he served for 10 years as president of Saybrook University, a comprehensive private, not-for-profit graduate institution located in Pasadena, California. In collaboration with community, Dr. Long more nearly tripled enrollment, expanded new academic programs, grew faculty and staff support for student learning, and positioned Saybrook for long-term financial sustainability. Dr. Long's academic leadership career began in 2004, where he served as associate professor (2008-2014), dean for general education and learning support services (2004-2010), chief academic officer (2007-2010), and then president (2010-2014). Prior to his time at The Christ College, Dr. Long served in faculty positions and student life & housing positions at University of Cincinnati, Arizona State University, and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. A proponent of whole person health education, Dr. Long believes that through a strong complement of integrative modalities with conventional health care, we can build a healthier, happier, and more productive society.
