I'm a thoroughly experienced User Researcher in both managerial and IC roles. I have multifaceted, technical expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. As Director of User Research at Cisco AppDynamics, I built a highly qualified team of User Researchers from the ground up, hiring 5 top candidates (including 3 PhDs) despite the difficult conditions during the pandemic. As Principal User Researcher at Cisco AppDynamics, I was not only the most experienced user researcher mentoring junior team members, I also created AppDynamics' research operations infrastructure (Jira project with custom workflows enabling tracking of research impact, and Confluence research repository organized for easy browsing and searching). As Principal Usability Engineer at Oracle, I provided user research (and sometimes interaction design) for an extremely wide gamut of enterprise software products, all the way from database to middleware to performance monitoring, to end user apps, across desktop, mobile and cloud spaces.I'm a highly skilled communicator, comfortable with interpreting complex user feedback, and presenting it in different formats best suited for audiences as diverse as development teams, PMs, managers and executives.I've trained mixed teams of designers, PMs, managers and directors in Lean UX techniques and Design Sprints, successfully enabling them to conduct their own rapid research projects. I've also mentored interns and junior researchers.I'm adaptable, flexible and creative. I'm used to making the best of existing resources, and if exactly the right research method for the circumstances and budget doesn't exist, then I invent it: as shown by my articles in refereed industry publications and my US patent!
