My Breton identity has led me naturally to this quest, as the Breton/Celtic psyche is very much concerned with history & legends, with reality & dreams, with the realms of day & night, of life & death. The mixing of these apparent opposites has created over the centuries a very rich source of storytelling & strong characterization. I feel that I belong very deeply to this tradition. Whereas children navigate freely between the worlds of reality & imagination, many adults have forgotten how. The reclaiming of our unconscious as a vital part of our life can lead, I feel, to greater openness, understanding, & fulfilment. My books, which attempt to create bridges between inner & outer worlds, have been enjoyed both by children (from the age of 12) and adults alike (no age limit, but the oldest reader I know of was 93). The stories are exciting, the historical aspect meticulously researched & the characters complex. I write to allow various levels of reading so that the books can be enjoyed equally by young & older people. I also write in short chapters to keep the story pacey and thrilling. The Brexit referendum changed everything for us EU citizens in the UK: from being happily at home in Britain, through no fault of our own and without having any say, we have now become pariahs used as bargaining capital by the British government. Dehumanised and demonised by the right wing tabloids, we have been subjected to all sorts of discrimination and abuse. Hate crime statistics have gone through the roof and xenophobes have felt empowered by the general hostile environment to bully us shamelessly.Elena Remigi (an Italian interpretor), Tim Sykes (a British editor) and I have collected in the early part of 2017 testimonies from EU citizens affected by Brexit in a Facebook group called "Our Brexit Testimonies". With the consent and support of the contributors, we have edited these raw and moving documents and made them into a book called "In Limbo: Brexit testimonies form EU citizens in the UK". Self published in June 2017, this powerful document has become well known in Westminster and Brussels, as the vibrant voice of the ignored mass of EU "migrants". Called "the most important Brexit related book of the year" by writer Charlie Donnelly in his review of the collection for 'The New European', a second edition of the book with new testimonies added is published by Spokesman Books, the publishing imprint for the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation.
