After walking for 33 days straight on the Camino de Santiago I discovered that I wanted to do more. It was after this walk that I began looking at things I could do that represented what I loved and felt passionate about. That is when I discovered that I could become a labour doula. Someone who supports families during one of the most important times in their life. I like to say that I am the Chaperone of birth. After taking training with Cappa Canada and attending my first birth I knew that I had found my calling. I love what I do and I am happiest when I know the family is happy with the way the birth turned out. Whichever way they wish to birth I am happy to support them.I look forward to the many more lives I will witness come into the world.Currently I am looking to take a pre-natal Yoga instruction course, and level 2 Reiki. It should leave all three people confident in the bodies ability to birth and ready for any turns of event that may take place. It also teaches people how to cope with epidurals as well as how to make a planned or unplanned C-section more mom and baby centred. Other topics include, breastfeeding support, comfort measures in labour, what to expect when birthing and preparation for brining baby home.
