An alumnus of AFMC, Pune, passed out after completing MBBS in 1981 and joined the Army Medical Corps where I had exposure to Command, Staff and Instructional appointments and active counter insurgency operations. Had tenure with the DRDO, where I worked as Project Officer and co-investigator of a Health Project at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS). As a member of the DRDO North Zone Disaster Management Committee had been involved in providing technical inputs and had organised and led disaster relief teams to Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Chamoli.Quality Assurance: Served in the Bureau of Indian Standards panel on Quality Assurance Standards with respect to Patient Care Services. Am a Certified Examiner for Quality Management of the RBNQA (Indian version of the Malcolm Balridge Quality Awards Cycle) Was Second in Command of a Field Medical Unit on the China border and commanded a Field Medical Unit with the elite First Armoured Division of the Indian Army, was Directing Staff at the AMC Centre and School, where I taught Officers attending the Senior Command Course. Am a keen sportsman who used to play basketball and squash, I topped the AMC Basic Course as a Captain, the Junior Command Course as a Major and the Senior Command Course as a Lt Col. I had been awarded the Army Commanders and the Chief of Army Staff Commendation.After 24 years, I joined the Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital Powai as General Manager Operations and was a part of the negotiations, operational, equipment & staffing planning and project monitoring of the Hiranandani Hospital project at Vashi. Commanding Officer Of A Field AmbulanceArmy Medical Corps Nov 2002 - Jul 2004I am the first person in my batch to be given Command of a unitAs Commanding Officer of the medical unit providing combat medical support to the elite First Armoured Division I was actively involved in formulating medical policy, planning, tactics and disaster management in area of responsibility.My team consisted of 16 Medical Officers with a service bracket ranging from 4 years to 19 years, and approximately 250 personnel below officers rank with trades like Nursing Assistant, Operating Room Assistants, Pharmacists, Health assistants and other support personnel like sanitary workers, cooks, etc.We are capable of tackling any medical or surgical emergency and can deploy our emergency quick reaction medical team within half an hour and build up on it as required. The whole unit is capable of being mobilized within six hours and can establish a 45 bedded hospital in tents.As Senior Medical Officer I was responsible for providing Comprehensive Medical Care to all ranks, their families and dependants of the formations under my medical care.We established a system of polyclinics in the close vicinity of our family quarters, which were manned round the clock and provided lab services and dental cover, and regular visits by physicians, paediatricians and gynaecologists. This was a very effective filter clinic for the Military Hospital and was appreciated by the clientele.

Second In Command Field AmbulanceArmy Medical Corps Jul 2001 - Nov 2002I am the first person in my batch to be posted as second in command.This field ambulance is located in high altitude area and provides medical cover to the local civilian population also.It has a fully functional 45-bedded hospital and has 10 doctors (including surgeon and anaesthetist) and 4 dentists posted to it. As the Commanding Officer was out most of the time due to administrative reasons, I have been often officiating as the Commanding Officer.

As a co-investigator I was actively involved in all activities of this multi centric project having five centres involving over fifty different DRDO establishments all over the country.
