I'm a US Navy veteran and currently Safety Manager at Merchants Metals. We just celebrated two years of zero recordables or lost time. I have nine years overall in safety and responsible for developing EHS programs, procedures, training, work practices, maintaining proper recordkeeping for worker compensation, stormwater, hazardous waste, and hot-work permits. During incident investigations, I ensure appropriate Root Cause Analysis and action items are performed to mitigate hazards and reduce risk. In addition, annual reviews of all EHS policies and procedures are performed to ensure we are current on all new local, state, and federal laws. This allows us to maintain a pulse on trends and legislation such as COVID-19 protocols and recommend policy and procedural improvements to maintain compliance.
