The Lede ( Pronounced as The /liːd/) is a digital news platform started originally in 2016 by award winning journalist Sandhya Ravishankar to promote the finest quality of journalistic work. Focusing on the southern states, The Lede will have a microscopic view on news developments in Tamil Nadu. Follow The Lede for stories that explain news breaks rather than just report it.

Heading Tamil Nadu bureau of The Economic Times – the world’s second largest business newspaper. Role involves managing news flow from the bureau and widening political coverage. Mentoring a team of reporters and ensuring quality output.

Heading the content vertical of a start-up broadcast solutions company. The company provides complete back-end support to news and entertainment Channels (Regional, National and International). The Delta4Cast team is equipped to set up a news channel from scratch and build teams for System Integration, Production and Content. As the content head of Delta4Cast, I specialize in training, generating content and establishing a fail-proof news management system for news channels. The content team in Delta4Cast is also in the process of making issue-based documentaries. As a contributor of content for local and international media houses.

Heading the channel’s Input and News Reporting teams (54 reporters/ stringers across Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi.) Responsible for generating news content that appeals to the international Tamil Diaspora. Played an important role in ensuring news input that put the Channel in the number one position in less than three months of launch. Coordinated with input internationally mainly during events such as the UNHRC in Geneva, which continues to be of keen interest to the national and international audience. Coordinated with Channel 4 to obtain the exclusive all India Telecast rights of Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields (Documentary) and the exclusive short version of CallumMacrae’sdocumentary – No Fire Zone. These documentaries were obtained exclusively amid keen competition from various national channels in the country vying for exclusive all-India telecast rights.Key editorial decision-maker in times of breaking news regarding movement of OB vans, reporters and crew. Responsible for all news input into the channel. Also heading the Input/Assignment deskleading a team of 10 professionals. Instrumental in professionalizing and streamlining workflow and co-ordination between input and output teams in the channel.

Day-to-day business news reporting and trend stories. Contributing for Economic Times Print edition.Based In Mumbai: Part of the News Feature team and responsible to work towards formalizing a work plan to bring out a half-hour weekend show. To adapt to a business environment and utilize expertise in the general news and Television Industry. Conceptualising, coordinating, traveling and putting together content that is anchored out of location; produced and packaged out of Mumbai and aired during weekends as a half-hour ET Insight show. Coordinating with correspondents of other bureaus and ensure quality inputs that can be put together for the show that looks beyond the business news headlines.

Understanding the operations of an upcoming national news channel. Responsible for setting up the Chennai bureau, recruiting the news team. Setting up a strong network of stringers across Tamil Nadu. Generating and assigning news stories in the state. Filtering editorial content and monitoring news breaks.

Responsible for generating news content from Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. Handling Tamil Nadu bureau with two correspondents and coordinating content from Sri Lanka using stringers. Monitoring all political developments in the state. Generating political and general news content, special programmes and ideas that could be developed into special news slots from Tamil Nadu. Ensuring that the Channel’s coverage was the best when it came to breaking news and investigative stories.
