• Events: large-scale cultural events for children, cooking classes, card making, penpal system, knitting circle, board game parties, galleries, book readings etc • Launched Komono Town’s first homestay programme (28 students; four teachers) from the United Kingdom. Included tea ceremony dressed in Yukata, participating in traditional Japanese dance and a school visit whilst living in a host family. Set up various homestays and international events, with participants from Indonesia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Germany, Serbia, Bhutan and the Philippines. • Implemented cultural tour of UK for 22 people, conducted orientations, guided group and collaborated with host families. Trip involved school visit and various historical and cultural sites and meeting local people. • School visits: all ages from Kindergarten through High School, including day nurseries and after-school clubs• Various translations for Town Hall, plus 60 page document from Japanese into English for foreign residents • Interpreting for local foreigners with issues relating to tax/ pensions/ marriage etc • Speeches (e.g.: international understanding, equality etc)• Teaching: English conversation classes and initiated weekly Book Club and monthly German lessons• Official translator for ‘Miss Mie Homecoming Project’ (doll sent as a symbol of friendship from Mie Prefecture to America) • Frequent appearances on local television, newspapers and radio
