The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) was founded in 1966 as the first area studies center at NYU. Today it is one of the premier centers of its kind in the country. Together with Columbia University’s Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS), CLACS is a federally-designated Title VI National Resource Center (NRC), through which CLACS supports faculty and student research abroad as well as faculty working groups and three faculty-directed regional area studies initiatives. The Events Manager at CLACS gets to host extensive public programming, from public lectures to film series and a range of events and workshops for K-12 teachers. Responsibilities include: Pre-event management:- Manage event team with event prep and set-up- Gather appropriate CLACS materials to be shared at event (Wifi code, brochures, sign in sheets etc.) At event- Greet and register guests, running microphones during Q&A- General event management Post-Event- Work with Event Manager and Media/Film Manager to share photos and film from event as well as create event re-cap for CLACS blog

The Gallatin Global Fellowship in Urban Practice (GGFUP) provides funding and support for advanced undergraduate and Master’s students to pursue extended, community-engaged research projects in partnership with urban social justice organizations. The Fellowship is organized by the Urban Democracy Lab (UDL) an initiative of the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU whose objective is to provide a space for scholars and practitioners to collaborate and exchange ideas for cultivating just, sustainable, and creative urban futures. Fellows in the Madrid program collaborate with Servicio Doméstico Activo (SEDOAC), a domestic workers' organization composed mainly of migrant women from Latin America. Additionally, the Fellow carries out independent research projects. I wrote about the Latin American diaspora in Spain and the demographic changes that have ensued over the last two decades.

The Humanity in Action Fellowship program brings together international groups of university students and recent graduates to explore national histories of discrimination and resistance, as well as examples of issues affecting different minority groups today. Fellows in the Warsaw program focus on the issue of hate speech, radicalism and discrimination--how they manifest, what kinds of threats they pose to a democratic society, and how they could be counteracted.Contributed in the creation of a social media strategy to raise awareness on sexual harassment faced by migrant women in the workplace. Created documents in Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish that were disseminated online and posted around Warsaw's metro area. These documents featured real anecdotes of migrant women experiencing sexual harassment in their place of work.

Cross-examined various federal legislations enacted in the United States Congress and House of Representatives during the past 30 years. Analyzed the intertwining of contemporary punishment and child support systems in the United States, including their proponents' arguments for and against the enactment of the legislations. Created 4 national-level memos with in-depth policy analysis for each legislation. Legislations included: - 1986 Bradley Amendment; - 1988 Family Support Act; - 1996 Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act; - 1998 Deadbeat-Parent Punishment Act.

Primary responsibility was to conduct research on human rights violations in Latin America. Transcribed interviews and edited written content in Spanish. Produced a series of research memos: - on Guatemala’s human rights issues and CICIG’s role in addressing them; - on the murder of environmental activist Berta Cáceres in Honduras; - drug policy in Mexico; government policies to reduce violence in El Salvador; - and the Colombian Constitutional Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage. Additionally, attended conferences pertaining current regional issues around New York City.In charge of researching and writing the chapter on Guatemala for the Human Rights Watch 2017 World Report (to be published in January 2017).

Managed a project that analyzed metropolitan governance in Latin America and the Caribbean, as requested by the Inter-American Development Bank. Collected contextual information (demographic, economic, fiscal, life quality and spatial) about 64 metropolitan areas over a 12-week period. Gained extensive dataset skills; data-mined to provide insightful information on regional data.

Created data projections on preschool, elementary, and secondary school attendance, in an effort to improve future policies. Projections included 5-, 10-, and 15-year scenarios.Updated the organization’s official brochures and designed 5 marketing campaigns, that were distributed in executive meetings, contributing to a broader understanding of Guatemala’s educational realities. Managed social media platforms, including content-production; increased the organization's Facebook followers by 45%. Met with constituent's from various political parties in presidential contention in order to emphasize the strategies needed to pursue at an educational policy level.
