As Server & Network Operation Engineer in a 24* 7 environment I am responsible for the following tasks:•Supporting Linux Servers (RHEL 4.0/CentOS 3.3) throughout the Bangalore network and data centers in US. •Configuring and maintaining Apache 2.0-1.3.12 production business critical web servers•Configuring and maintaining DHCP and BIND as internal DNS server and cache only for external domains with RedHat Linux.•Configuring Nagios monitoring system in production environment to check actively CPU utilization, memory, diskspace consumption, availability in network etc.•Configuring and implementing MRTG for web traffic, shell scripts to automate processes•Configuring and supporting VSFTP services, http/https services for the exposed production servers.•Troubleshooting, maintaining the development centre/Staging environments in Bangalore. •Configuring and maintaining the company messaging system configured with qmail with RHEL.•Ensuring security permissions using PAM, TCP wrapper, Xinetd, Tripwire, setting immutable, sticky bit and permissions on local file system.•Working with CITRIX, VNC, PuTTY, cygwin etc. for day to day network activity.•Updating Linux with Latest Kernel and Software regularly and Patch apply•Supporting PIX(Cisco 515E) firewalls and Cisco (2621) router•Setting up SAMBA shares with security options for our production users.•Writing Shell scripts (bash) and automating jobs for exposed production servers.•Managing MySQL in our production environment including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, MySQL replication and schema changes•Performing database upgrades, including planning, scheduling, testing, and coordination with other departments•Producing documentation for use in configuration, repair and troubleshooting of managed database systems•Coordinating and interfacing with outside vendors, end users, other department team members, and service providers to resolve issues.
