My role as a First Sergeant has me caring for the well being of over 100 airmen in a squadron. This position is best explained as the blending of human resources, union rep, guidance counselor, and assistant principal. My responsibilities include maintaining good order and discipline within the unit, advising the commander, developing Airmen, and advocating for my people. In this position I have been able to integrate well into a variety of different organizations and broaden my scope of responcibility into fields outside of aircraft maintenance.

Las Vegas, Nevada Area

Assigned to the 555th Red Horse Squadron as I was the unit machinist. Here instead of aircraft, I use my skills as a machinist and welder to repair Construction equipment and deployable assets. As Red Horse I went TDY to Langley AFB and helped construct “Raptor Town”. I also provided a manning assist to the 820th Red Horse Squadron. While there I alleviated a 15 month backlog in the vehicle maintenance section. I also supported the 554 Red Horse Squadron in Guam, repairing many pieces of damaged equipment. I deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013 and again in 2018 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve to the 557th Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron. My experience here culminated in being the interim Vehicle Maintenance Non Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) and Aircraft Metals Technology NCOIC.

Colorado Springs, Colorado Area

I was stationed at Peterson AFB at the 302nd Maintenance Squadron. My duty position was over manned so I spent my time there mainly working for the Aerospace Ground Equipment Flight.

Las Vegas, Nevada Area

My duties are to provide machine shop and welding support to F-15, F-16, A-10, F-22, and F-35 airframes. I also give fabrication support to the Phase Dock, AGE, Armament, AMMO, Avionics, Fuels, and engine shop. I am an Air Force certified welder. I can program with Feature Cam on a Haas VF-4, TL-1, and SL-30 CNC, as well as an OMAX Water Jet. I evaluate and repair damage, remove stuck components, inspect wear tolerences and author engineering dispositions when needed. Also I manage the shop HAZMAT program.

Las Vegas, Nevada Area

Formally Computer Science Corporation (CSC) my duties at PAE are to provide machine shop and welding support to F-15, F-16, A-10, and F-22 airframes. I also give fabrication support to the Phase Dock, AGE, Armament, AMMO, Avionics, Fuels, and engine shop. I am an Air Force certified welder in the 6G position. I can program with Feature Cam on a Haas VF-4, TL-1, and SL-30 CNC, as well as an OMAX Water Jet. Also I manage the shop HAZMAT program.

Albuquerque, New Mexico Area

When I first entered this machine shop, I was amazed. I had never seen such a large capacity fabrication facility. My duties here were to operate a retrofitted 108” Bullard Vertical Lathe, with a Fanuc controller. I machined duplex stainless steel and inconel parts weighing several tons. I would regularly have to use micrometers and calipers larger than 3 feet. Here I became proficient with overhead hoists and forklifts to facilitate simple things like setting up and breaking down parts on my machine. It was an awesome experience.

Albuquerque, New Mexico Area

I was stationed at Kirtland AFB at the 58th Maintenance Squadron where I worked on C-130’s, H-1’s, H-60’s, H-53’s, CV-22’s, and on occasion KC-135’s. I also supported all the back shops including: Phase, ISO, Engine shop, fuels, AGE, Armament, and whatever other agencies requiring machine shop and welding support.
