I was the lead engineer for the development of a real-time closed loop control system for the AOsystem. My responsibilities in the project were as follows:-1. In an AO instrument, a control system is used to extract the Shack-Hartmann WavefrontSensor(SHWFS) signals and compute the signals that are to be sent to the Deformable Mirror(DM). This is a compute intensive task, as the new DM feedback signal is computed from the raw SHWFS frame data typically at 1KHz rate. We worked on two-PC control system architecture in this problem.2. We developed an emulator for an AO closed loop control system. We used Webcam cameras and Arduino boards to program them such that their properties(like data transmission rate, data type etc.) resemble actual AO subsystems like SHWFS, DM and TTM.3. I had written C++ codes based on a multi-threaded scheduling algorithm for a real time closed loop control system. The scheduling policies of the operating system were adjusted to suit the needs of our application.

Design And Development Of An Adaptive Optics(Ao) Based Instrument
Physical Research Laboratory Jul 2018 - Aug 2023
    Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India
    1. Development of a computational test bench – which is a computersimulation package with theoretical framework of AO system2. Setup of a laboratory hardware experiment where various concepts developed in thecomputational test-bench were verified3. A hot-air based turbulence generator was developed by me to mimic atmospheric turbulencein laboratory controlled conditions. The setup involved controlling the wind velocity and temperature of the air in order to achieve the desired Fried parameter4. Optical design of Adaptive Optics(AO) based Near Infrared (NIR) Camera instrument for PRL 2.5m telescope
  • Physical Research Laboratory

Physical Research Laboratory Mar 2018 - Aug 2023
    Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India
A new instrumentation project to develop an Echelle based Spectro-polarimeter for PRL 2.5m telescope was initiated. My responsibilities in the project were as follows:-1. As a system engineer, I was responsible for synchronization and integration of several subsystems like optical, mechanical , detector, control and software etc.2. I was actively involved in detector system development of the instrument(2 detectors areinvolved)3. Identification of various requirements for CCD Dewar and thermal analysis to find outthe expected Liquid Nitrogen hold time.4. Contributing in the optical design and tolerance analysis of the instrument5. Procurement of several custom and commercially available components
