Employing a combination of traditional and contemporary materials and techniques, I strive to create a language that fuses architecture, interiors, furniture,graphics and art for a holistic experience. My passion for the medium of fibers is rooted in their varied dimensional, textural and polychromatic qualities that leave a deep visual and haptic impression upon a person. Paper and textiles being predominant forms of fiber, inspire me with their immense versatility and potential to create dimensional forms for spaces. I also draw inspiration from the existing elaborate biodiversity in nature and its equally fascinating representations and symbolisms in the vernacular traditions of varied cultures. It welcomes practitioners of all art forms (visual and performing), architecture and design, in an environment that provides time, space and inspiration.Focused on experimentation, the principal mandate of this residency program is play – play with concepts, techniques, materials, colour etc. We encourage our artists to make mistakes, use this time to re-establish the link between imagination and actualization, and further develop their practices.The Alleppey region is very unique as it has access to many local art and craft forms and the residency also aims to support the artist and the craftsmen through a mutual and symbiotic dialogue.
