He is a key player in developing public and health professional education through leadership while enabling and empowering learners and teachers through technology. Vaikunthan is an active and practicing medical ethicist and researcher in clinical and educational domains and mentors teams in authentic and real-world action research. He is a committed humanitarian and activist with extensive experience in clinical and health professional education across borders. Vaikunthan advocates democratizing learners with a blended approach enhanced with open-access platforms and educational technology. He is a lifelong learner with effective communication and global collaboration assets through extensive networks.Vaikunthan is a Senior Consultant Hand Surgeon at KTPH National Healthcare Group and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is also the Program Director of Instructional Design and Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare Professionals at NHG College, Singapore. Additionally, he is an APU-UNESCO Chair Partner & Adjunct Professor at the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) Malaysia.He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators (UK), the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and the Higher Education Academy (UK). Vaikunthan also examines various prestigious institutions, including the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and the National University of Singapore.Vaikunthan's research interests include hand surgery, orthopaedic surgery, microsurgery, medical education, instructional design, technology, Generative AI in education and research, and surgical volunteerism. He has designed and developed an online teaching program for health professional research and has mentored surgeons in Europe, US and Asia.He has extensive experience in teaching and training, curriculum development, research, and administration.
