As a Senior Mentor; working in a secondary school with young people supporting both families and siblings my role is my passion.Very enthusiastic As a team and working independently we like to make a difference to people's livesDaily issues cover emotional wellbeing and helping to remove the barriers to learning.Over the last few years we have seen a shift in social skills from parents to young people;adversities appear more complex to them and resilience is something they struggle with Some of the problems we deal with on a daily basis are: Grief & BereavementChild Protection i.e. Neglect, physical, emotional, abuseSelf harmingChallenging behaviourMental healthAttachment disorder i.e. insecure / ambivalent / unattached etcBullyingTeenage pregnanciesHave trained in Philadelphia USA in Resilience Programme with Marty Seiligmann Previously supported students at King's Priory Tynemouth on a consultancy basisTo deal with many of the above, one has to have a great sense of humour to overcome many of the emotions but also to be optimistic, positive and willing to go that extra length.More recently, expertise in creating perfect calm settings for staff in this hectic industry we call education.2021 South Tyneside Award Nominee for the work at Boldon School towards supporting students, staff & parents.Also re design rooms to accommodate outside agencies such as counselling sessions & calm environments for staff as well as students for eg: a Prayer Room, Mentoring and sensory spaces around our schoolThis is something I’m happy to help within other schools and would like to develop furtherPlease email for more information
