I am a graduate of Duquesne University where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in ElementaryEducation, and Wilmington University, where I obtained my Master’s Degree in Reading withDisabilities. I am a passionate educator of both children and adults and have devoted my entire life to reading and writing. Throughout my literacy career, I have served as a Classroom Teacher, a Reading Specialist, an Intervention Coordinator, a Literacy Coach/Staff Developer, a Literacy Presenter, and as a member of a district administrative team in charge of data integration and instruction. In my most recent role as a Reading Specialist in the Franklin Regional School District, I established and designed a third space learning environment where I instructed colleagues and students side-by-side in reading and writing practices within a unique Literacy Lab setting. I am a Teacher Consultant for the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project and serve on its Core Leadership Team at the University of Pittsburgh. I am the Founding Director of Writers of Westmoreland, a hub of the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project, where I design and facilitate literacy workshops for local Intermediate Units and schools and school districts across the state. I am also the Coordinator, Teacher, and Director of the Young Writers Institute of Westmoreland County for students rising in grades 4 th -12 th . I am a writer and a contributing author to the action research book The Poetic Classroom. I work full-time at Carlow University as the Director of the MEd in Reading Specialist program and graduate certificate in Dyslexia Teaching.
