About Valerie Christensen
Hi, I’m Valerie. And I'm a word-a-holic.I picked up a pen at an early age - convinced I would write a bestseller by the fifth grade. While I didn't get published at that time, my early interest led me to submit my first manuscripts for publication as a Senior in High School. My writing-to-publish instructor and manuscript editor encouraged me to keep penning "well-written, slice of life" stories. Although I enjoyed many writing classes in college, my love of the human condition (why they act, feel, and live the way they do) led me to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family and Human Development. I've had the privilege of educating young minds and introducing them to the world of literature. I taught K-12 English in Pusan, Korea and was a Title One reading instructor in our local school district for ten years.Today, I fuse my love of human development and education with writing. I specialize in editorial and content writing - especially parenting and other feature articles. I have written original pieces across many genres for our local newspaper, The Caldwell Perspective. In addition, I have done content and copy writing while working as an administrative assistant for a Real Estate Company, Social Security Disability Agency and a Funeral Home. I'm not afraid to tackle out-of-the box copy and editing assignments from start-up businesses to established corporations. An enjoyable project included co-writing and recording a children's album in Nashville for Marla Cilley (a.k.a. "The Flylady").I enjoy living in the picturesque state of Idaho and am married to Valden Christensen. We are the parents of three children who are our pride and joy.
