Coach/ Leader (Manager)
Waycross, Georgia, United States
At Chick-Fil-A of Waycross, coaches are called "leaders", which I find encouraging. As a 17 year-old-leader, I was managing crew members for an assigned shift. Even though this was a workplace, we had an open-door policy where crew members could reach out to the leaders or anyone if they were having any troubles (i.e mentally, emotionally, or physically). I was eager to support them any way I could, but still with legal and ethical boundaries. Throughout this job position, I developed my emotional intelligence, motivational, and problem-solving skills. Also with this job, I became a people-orientated manager, which I feel is the best and only option. In order for our crew members to take care of our guests, we first have to take care of our crew members. From a business perspective, this would be effective for the company's profit because customer retention would increase; however, my sole objective, as a manager/leader, was to provide hospitality both for the guests and my crew members.
