I was a key contributor to the development of the data analysis pipeline which in 2015 provided the first direct observation of gravitational waves. My work focused on core algorithms development, waveform simulations and data analysis. In the process l rediscovered and further expanded a class of a time-frequency transforms which replaced classical wavelets in the pipeline due to both quantitative and qualitative advantages. This work was published in a separate paper.Our group at UF was part of the wider LIGO scientific collaboration. In 2017 senior members of LIGO were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017 for the discovery of gravitational waves.
