Hello! I am Valentina Burgos, a second-year student at the Miami Dade Honors College studying Psychology: a pathway that aligns with my dedication to community well-being and certifications in mental health first aid. My passion for community service developed through my interdisciplinary experiences combining sports medicine and civic engagement, first as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Doral Athletic Training Clinic, then as Student Government Civic Engagement Director and Changemaking Director at Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus, later as an EngageTheVote fellow for EngageMiami and volunteer for Doral Physical Therapy, and now as Student Government President and STEM Student Association Communications Manager.Thanks to the opportunities offered at Miami Dade College, I am honored to work with the Changemaking Institute and Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy as a student representative to the Wolfson Impact Committee, as well as proudly representing Wolfson Campus' student body as the 2023-2024 Campus Academic and Student Support Council Representative, current Chair of the Interclub Council, and current Open House Committee Student Representative.Beyond these roles, I am proud to be a founding officer of both the Intramural Sports Club and Disability Pride Club, providing students in Downtown Miami with wellness-oriented, supportive, and accessible activities for their physical and mental health. Through these commitments, I aim to serve my college community by positively contributing to an active and engaging learning environment for all.
