I recall that when I first started in agency recruitment, on the final interview before being hired, I was asked, "can you sell?" What I told my future boss was likely not what she expected to hear. I told her I'm not a salesperson and don't ever aspire to be. However, if it's a question of meeting a great person that is capable and talented and advocating on their behalf to our clients, now that's something I would love to do! Going on 13 years, nothing much has changed. I've enjoyed building relationships and advocating for some truly wonderful and accomplished individuals. But again, if you asked me to "sell you this pen," you'd probably still have...a pen to sell.
