I currently lead a team of ten staff who manage relationships with the provincial and territorial governments, with international bodies including the International Energy Agency, with municipalities, and within the energy sector. My team also develops future policy on affordability, workforce, behavioural insights, digitalization and demand-side management.

I managed a team of seven unionized staff who undertook technical projects, managed regulatory proceedings, and led policy initiatives related to electricity and natural gas conservation, integrated resource planning and climate change. These initiatives optimized how we use the energy system so that it remains cost-effective and reliable and as we move through the energy transition.

In this role, I oversaw major rate application cases within the OEB’s adjudicative process, led the development of policy frameworks, and conducted complex technical studies. This involved leading a team of subject matter experts and lawyers to represent the public in rate applications that utilities submit to respond to OEB policy frameworks related to climate change, energy efficiency and mergers & acquisitions. I also guided and managed third party consultants to complete technical energy efficiency and climate change studies.

Returning back to Canada from overseas, I managed all aspects of the Evaluation, Measurement, & Verification of Union Gas' DSM annual report by coordinating input from 10+ internal stakeholders. I managed three third party consultants to complete technical evaluations of 50+complex custom energy efficiency projects at industrial and commercial sites. Because of my understanding of these reports, I was able to demonstrate that savings were underestimated.

I was seconded to ICF's Beijing office to develop the industrial energy efficiency consulting practice. In this role, I acted as a technical liaison across the company to deliver tailored solutions to new clients, and managed projects that we undertook in Asia. I helped the company win industrial energy efficiency assessment work for the company from new clients at state-owned companies and governments in Asia totalling $1 million. I completed onsite energy efficiency assessments for 25+ industrial facilities, and conducted five workshops and 40+ interviews with industrial sector stakeholders, with support from internal staff and sub-consultants.

As an associate, I conducted onsite energy and greenhouse gas verification audits, undertook commercial and industrial data collection and analysis, and developed presentations and reports. I conducted DSM achievable potential and benchmarking studies, audits and surveys of industrial companies for energy efficiency (ISO 50001) and greenhouse gas verification (ISO 14064), as well as on-site assessments to evaluate energy savings in commercial and institutional buildings.Achievements include:• Conducted EM&V at 30+ commercial buildings across Canada for a federal energy efficiency program, including onsite equipment verification, analyzing energy savings in accordance with international protocols, and interviewing facility staff 
mostly in French• Surveyed 150+ industrial facilities, remotely or in person, using an industrial energy efficiency tool I developed to determine energy savings potential • Designed and delivered content for the OPA Conservation & Demand Management (CDM) Course for OPA and local distribution company staff.

As a consultant, I performed technical reviews of energy efficiency and renewable energy applications for utility companies' conservation programs. I also assisted with conservation potential studies, including modeling energy conservation potential of technologies in order to estimate potential conservation program costs.

As my Masters project, and continuing as a full-time employee, I undertook a biofuel feasibility study in an African country, developed a solar thermal simulation for solar air conditioning in a zero-carbon zero-waste city, and wrote reports for the European Energy Policy for the Committee of the Regions.

As part of a small start-up team:• Built a distribution network for a biomass BBQ in Canada• Developed a sales strategy using my own entrepreneurship experience, as well as trial & error• Planned and participated in product demonstrations, completing sales and maintaining client relationships • 21 stores setup with product by the end of the summer

As the business manager and owner over two years:• Learned estimating and selling skills and completed almost 250 estimates;• Interviewed and hired twenty students; managed them in teams;• Coached them in painting and customer skills which I learned myself the same year;• Dealt with injuries and Worker's Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB);• Managed all financial aspects including payroll, tax remittance, small business subsidies;• Had 160+ satisfied customers;• $190 000 CDN in sales;• Won Rookie Manager of the Year (2003), Quality Manager of the Year (2003), President’s Award (2003), Star Manager Award & 100% Quality (2003, 2004).
