“What do you want to be when you grow up?” The proverbial question we’ve all heard or even asked. As a child, my answers ranged from veterinarian to teacher to singer. I quickly realized being a veterinarian was more than playing with cute little dogs and cats. I played teacher and got that out of my system. I entered singing contests, tried out for American Idol twice, and was content keeping my passion for singing as a mere hobby. Now what? What am I supposed to be when I grow up? I didn’t know the answer. I didn’t want to go to college just to go to college. Fast forward some years, and through some self-discovery, I finally knew what I wanted to be when I grew up: HR! Why not enter a field that matches my heart and personality? I’m an INFJ personality. This is what led me into choosing HR for my career. I’m said to have the rarest personality on the planet. Wild, I know! Some of an INFJ's greatest strengths that I have are:Insightful – I can understand people’s true motivations, feelings, and needsPrincipled – I have strong beliefs and values, especially with ethicsPassionate – I crave a sense of purpose in lifeAltruistic – I want to use my strengths for the greater good, and I never lose sight of how my words and actions might affect othersI am HR. I enjoy it all - recruitment, relations, coaching, counseling, performance management, engagement, benefits and leave administration, policy-creating.I am an empath. I am a think-before-I-speak person. I am a big-picture thinker. I have keen attention-to-detail. I am a strong believer in fairness and equality, a healthy work-life balance, and giving and receiving respect. Lastly, and certainly not the least, I am a big supporter of mental health care.
