Highlights:- Expanded the organization from a few part-time volunteers to a team of 50 full-time staff.- Created and supported registered charities in six other countries to raise support.- Built a nonprofit preeminent in its field. Amani won the "African NGO Leadership Award" in 2016, which was received on its behalf by the Africa Regional Director of the UNEP.Organizational Development- Coordinated rapid expansion (from 18 to 42 full-time staff in two years), creating infrastructure and systems to manage growth.- Introduced OD tools including the Action Learning Cycle, World Café, Appreciative Inquiry, and Six Thinking Hats to develop staff’s ability to reflectively engage with emerging issues.- Facilitated biannual program planning and assessment weeks to ensure alignment between strategy, organizational values, and operations.Resource Development- Designed and executed a development plan that funded operating budget increases of between 30% and 60% every year for nine years, while simultaneously building a reserve of funds to cover operating expenses for two full years. - Established extensive, diverse income streams, including the creation of registered “Friends of Amani” charities in six countries.- Spearheaded a capital fundraising campaign that involved giving presentations in 30 cities, exceeding the fundraising goal by 300%.- Instituted a monthly sponsorship program and recruited over 300 members.- Built partnerships with large businesses which have together donated over $1,000,000.Leadership Development- Developed and executed program assessment and training workshops, establishing a results-oriented learning organization.- Created Individual Development Plans with senior leadership and held targeted coaching sessions to support success in achievement of goals.- Designed a competency-based human resource system that aligns job descriptions, interviews, and performance reviews. Implemented a 360-degree feedback process for all staff.
